Our Mission

Recovery Rides is a nonprofit led by people with lived and living experience, connecting individuals in various stages of recovery to the outdoors—primarily through mountain biking.

We recognize that recovery is a deeply personal process that takes many forms. However it looks, we believe that community, outdoor access, and the unique benefits of mountain biking can be powerful tools for growth.

Our mission is to break down barriers—whether financial, social, or logistical—so that more people can experience the benefits of nature, movement, and connection, making recovery a more equitable journey.

Our Vision

We envision a world where all people in recovery—however they define it—have access to the healing power of movement, nature, and community.

Through Recovery Rides, we strive to create an inclusive, supportive space where barriers to outdoor recreation are removed, and individuals can build confidence, connection, and joy.

By centering social justice, empowerment, and collaboration, we aim to reshape what recovery support looks like—making it more accessible, equitable, adventurous, and fun.

We acknowledge that the land on which Recovery Rides operates is the traditional, unceded, and stolen territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

We recognize and respect the enduring relationship that Indigenous peoples have with this land, which has been nurtured over generations.

Colonization has deeply impacted Indigenous communities, contributing to systemic injustices, including the disproportionate effects of substance use and barriers to accessing recovery services. We are committed to understanding how colonization continues to affect the well-being of Indigenous peoples.

Recovery Rides is dedicated to decolonizing our practices and fostering a space where Indigenous people are not only welcomed but are included at all levels of our organization. We are committed to building relationships based on respect, collaboration, and reciprocity. Our approach centers cultural safety, Indigenous knowledge, and practices, ensuring that our programs are accessible, inclusive, and mindful of the diverse needs of Indigenous peoples in recovery.

Community &
Collaboration

Even though recovery is a personal journey, we believe that it happens best in community with others. We are better together and strive to create connections.

Empowerment

Self efficacy, agency, and resilience are all qualities that mountain biking helps riders gain. We strive to empower our participants to become their best on and off the trail.
